BONDS is the entry tier of the IQOS range from the official IQOS manufacturer: compact, all-in-one heated tobacco devices built around ROUNDHEAT external heating. Instead of a blade or an induction element, a heater track wrapped around the outside of the chamber warms the stick from the outside in, so nothing ever enters the stick and there is nothing to clean — no blade to brush, no residue to shake out. The hardware is deliberately plain: one button, four status lights, a sliding cap and USB-C charging, with no screen and no app. BONDS devices take ROUNDHEAT sticks only, which means the Blends and Beyond lines. The brand has one device line, BONDS by IQOS, stocked here in Cosmic Black, Ruby Red and Ocean Blue.

About BONDS

BONDS is the entry tier of the IQOS range, and the only platform in it that heats without a blade and without an induction element. Every BONDS device runs ROUNDHEAT — the system the official IQOS manufacturer names its Oven Heating System in technical material — in which a heater track wrapped around the outside of the chamber applies resistive heat to the outer surface of the stick. The stick is heated from the outside in, never pierced. The track doubles as its own thermometer, and the control electronics cut power if the chamber runs hot; no target temperature is published for the platform. What matters about that design is what it removes: nothing enters the stick and no substrate reaches the chamber, so a BONDS device has no cleaning routine of any kind, and no cleaning tool ships with it because none is needed.

Lineup

BONDS has one device line, and it is the whole of the platform.

  • BONDS by IQOS — a one-piece heated tobacco device with a pebble-shaped anodised aluminium body in a dual satin finish, a sliding cap over the chamber, one button and four white status lights. No screen, no Bluetooth and no app: a short press shows the battery level, and during a session the lights count down the time left. A session runs up to five minutes with no limit on the number of puffs, and three sticks heat back to back before a short automatic cool-down. Charging is over USB-C; no power adapter is in the box, and the recommended one is a 10 W unit rated 5 V / 2 A. The published rating for BONDS by IQOS is up to 25 sessions on a full charge, and the device is rated for use between 0 and 40 °C. Its design carries an iF Design Award.

Three colourways are stocked — Cosmic Black, Ruby Red and Ocean Blue — differing in colour only: same specification, same finish, same contents in the box. A second generation, BONDS 2 by IQOS, runs the same platform, the same stick format and the same three colours, so where the two differ the figures above are the published ratings for BONDS by IQOS; the model code near the charging port is the only reliable way to tell them apart, and BONDS 2 carries M0051.

Compatibility

BONDS devices take ROUNDHEAT sticks and nothing else — two lines, both stocked here: Blends, the real-tobacco range, and Beyond, which contains nicotine but no tobacco leaf. A ROUNDHEAT stick is sealed at both ends with a filter plug and carries no metal element, which is what suits it to external heating and what keeps it out of every other system. Terea, Delia and Levia belong to IQOS ILUMA, HEETS to the older IQOS Originals devices, Fiit to lil SOLID, Neo, Kent and Veo to glo, Virto and Rivo to glo Hilo, iD and iSenzia to Pulze. None of them fit a BONDS chamber, and a ROUNDHEAT stick does not fit theirs. The official safety instructions are blunt about it: using the device with sticks other than ROUNDHEAT sticks may cause injury or damage the device.

FAQ

Do BONDS devices need cleaning?

No — there is no blade to brush and no residue to shake out, and no cleaning tool is in the box because none is needed. Just keep the top opening and the venting hole on the bottom clear of visible debris; a blocked vent makes for a poor session.

How long does one session last, and is there a puff limit?

Up to about five minutes, with no limit on the number of puffs — you draw as often as you like within the session, which is a real difference from puff-counted devices. One vibration and a single pulsing white light mark the last 30 seconds, then the device ends the session itself. Each stick is for one session only.

Which sticks work with BONDS devices?

ROUNDHEAT sticks only, which means Blends and Beyond — both stocked here and linked under Compatibility above. If you are unsure what you are holding, a ROUNDHEAT stick is sealed at both ends with a filter plug and has no metal element inside it.
