glo
glo is the official manufacturer’s flagship heat-not-burn device line, engineered as the platform-level competitor to IQOS within the heated-tobacco category. Designed for adult users actively choosing between heated-tobacco platforms, the range covers three distinct technology generations — legacy resistive heating, the induction-heated HYPER family, and the next-generation HILO platform with TurboStart dual heating — each paired with its own platform-matched consumables. Stick formats are not interchangeable across generations, so the device you pick determines the consumable. The lineup divides into Legacy / first generation, HYPER and HILO.

About glo
glo is the official manufacturer’s heat-not-burn (HnB) device platform. Every device in the lineup heats a tobacco stick — or a rooibos-based substrate in the Veo and Rivo ranges — below combustion temperature, releasing a nicotine-containing aerosol rather than smoke. Operating temperatures span roughly 240 °C on legacy resistive units up to 370 °C on the HILO TurboStart platform, with session lengths typically 3–5 minutes. All current generations charge over USB-C, and platform-matched stick compatibility is the single most important purchasing decision across the line.
Lineup
- Legacy / first generation — the original glo platform built around battery-operated resistive heating: a heating element wraps the stick chamber and warms it to roughly 240–280 °C with a ~40-second ramp-up. Single-button, single-mode operation; one charge supports more than 30 consecutive sessions. Includes the original glo, glo Pro and glo Nano (slim form factor), plus the short-lived hybrid glo Sens. Compatible with first-generation Neostiks (legacy Kent and Neo Nano). Largely phased out across most markets in favour of the HYPER family.
- HYPER — the mainstream induction-heated generation. An electromagnetic coil heats a metal chamber that surrounds the Demi-slim stick, eliminating the external resistive ring of the legacy generation. Temperatures sit around 240–260 °C with a 20-second standard ramp-up and a dual Standard / Boost mode profile. Sub-models include glo HYPER, HYPER+, HYPER X2 (iris-shaped Tasteselect shutter, ~13 % smaller body), HYPER AIR (75 g, ~40 % smaller than the original HYPER) and HYPER PRO (first glo with EasyView AMOLED display and HeatBoost technology). All HYPER devices share the same Demi-slim stick chamber.
- HILO — the next-generation glo platform. Introduces TurboStart Technology — a dual heating system combining quartz / resistive heating with infrared radiation — bringing a stick to readiness in approximately 5 seconds at 370 °C. Uses a new shorter, thicker stick geometry, physically incompatible with HYPER Demi-slim sticks; consumables are Virto (tobacco) and Rivo (rooibos-based, non-tobacco), both fitted with StickSeal technology to keep loose substrate out of the heating chamber. Two sub-models: glo HILO (compact all-in-one, ~76 g, EasyView AMOLED display, seven gemstone colours) and glo HILO Plus (modular pen + base architecture with EasySwitch). Both pair with the Myglo companion app for usage stats, device locking, location tracking and personalisation.
Compatibility
Stick compatibility splits along three platform lines that are not stick-interchangeable. Legacy devices accept first-generation Neostiks (legacy Kent and Neo Nano). The HYPER family accepts Demi-slim Neostiks — current Kent Neostiks and Neo Demi — plus the rooibos-based Veo range. HILO accepts only Virto and Rivo sticks, whose shorter, thicker geometry will not fit older glo devices. glo sticks of any generation will not work with IQOS devices (Terea, Levia, Delia, HEETS), lil SOLID devices (FIIT), Pulze devices, Ploom devices or ELFBAR pods.
FAQ
What is glo?
glo is the official manufacturer’s heat-not-burn (HnB) device line. Instead of burning tobacco like a cigarette, glo heats a specially designed tobacco stick — or, in the case of Veo and Rivo, a rooibos-based herbal substrate — to between roughly 240 °C and 370 °C depending on the device generation, releasing a nicotine-containing aerosol without combustion. It is the official manufacturer’s flagship competitor to IQOS in the heated-tobacco category and is sold across more than 30 markets worldwide.
What is the difference between glo HYPER and glo HILO?
HYPER and HILO are two separate glo platforms with different heating systems and incompatible stick formats. The HYPER family uses induction heating around a Demi-slim stick chamber, with a Standard / Boost dual-mode profile and a 20-second ramp-up. HILO uses TurboStart Technology — dual quartz / resistive heating combined with infrared radiation — bringing a stick to readiness in about 5 seconds at 370 °C, and uses shorter, thicker Virto and Rivo sticks. HYPER and HILO sticks are not interchangeable.
Which sticks work with which glo device?
There are three glo stick platforms. Legacy devices (the original glo, glo Pro, glo Nano) accept first-generation Neostiks — legacy Kent and Neo Nano. The HYPER family (HYPER, HYPER+, HYPER X2, HYPER AIR, HYPER PRO) accepts Demi-slim Neostiks: current Kent Neostiks, Neo Demi and the rooibos-based Veo range. The HILO family (HILO and HILO Plus) accepts Virto (tobacco) and Rivo (rooibos-based) sticks only. Sticks from any of the three platforms are not interchangeable with each other, and they will not work in IQOS, lil SOLID, Pulze or Ploom devices.
