About glo Hilo Ruby

glo Hilo is the official manufacturer’s next-generation heat-not-burn device, launched in June 2025 as the compact, all-in-one model of the new HILO platform. It replaces the induction-heated HYPER family with TurboStart Technology — a dual heating system that combines quartz / resistive heating with infrared waves to bring a stick to readiness in roughly 5 seconds at 370 °C, among the fastest heat-up times in the heat-not-burn category.

The Ruby colorway is the saturated warm-red entry in glo Hilo’s seven-finish gemstone palette. It pairs the deep jewel-tone red shell with the line’s signature orange button and slider accent, so the device reads as a single unified piece rather than a colour clash. Within the warm half of the palette Ruby sits alongside the golden / honeyed glo Hilo Amber; on the cool side it has the purple glo Hilo Amethyst, the blue Sapphire and the black glo Hilo Onyx as counterpoints. Hardware, in-box contents and stick compatibility are identical across every Hilo colorway — Ruby is purely a finish choice.

What’s in the box

  • glo Hilo device (Ruby finish)
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Instruction manual / quick-start guide

AC power adaptor is not included.

How to use

  1. Charge. Plug the included USB-C cable into glo Hilo and connect to a USB power source. A full charge takes about 90 minutes; the AMOLED EasyView screen shows charging progress.
  2. Insert a stick. Slide a Virto (tobacco) or Rivo (rooibos, non-tobacco) stick into the chamber until it stops. Both stick formats use StickSeal technology, which keeps loose substrate out of the device.
  3. Press and use. Press the orange button to start TurboStart heating. The stick is ready in roughly 5 seconds. Standard mode runs about 5 min 10 sec per session; Boost mode delivers a shorter, more intense 4 min 10 sec session. Pair with the myglo app (iOS / Android) for personalisation, usage stats and a remote-lock / find-my-glo feature.

Frequently asked questions

Which sticks are compatible with glo Hilo Ruby?

glo Hilo Ruby uses the HILO-platform stick geometry, which is shorter and thicker than the older Demi-slim Neostiks. Two stick lines fit: Virto (tobacco) and Rivo (rooibos, non-tobacco). Both feature StickSeal, a sealed plug at the tip of each stick that keeps loose substrate out of the heating chamber. glo Hilo is NOT compatible with HYPER-family Demi-slim Neostiks (Neo Demi, Kent Neostiks, Veo) or with legacy Nano-format glo sticks. It is also not compatible with IQOS sticks, lil SOLID FIIT, Pulze or Ploom sticks.

How does glo Hilo Ruby compare to glo Hilo Amber?

The hardware is identical: both glo Hilo Amber and Ruby share the same 76 g body, 5-second TurboStart heat-up at 370 °C, AMOLED EasyView display, USB-C charging, 90-minute full charge, 20 sessions per charge, Virto / Rivo stick compatibility and the myglo app. The only difference is finish: Ruby is a saturated warm-red jewel tone — bold and expressive — while the Amber finish sits in the same warm half of the palette as a more understated golden / honeyed alternative. Pick Ruby if you want a statement red device; pick Amber if you prefer a softer warm-gold look on the same Hilo body.
