Lyo

Lyo is a range of nicotine sticks made without tobacco, built by the official manufacturer for the Ploom platform — Ploom AURA, Ploom X Advanced and Ploom X. In place of a tobacco rod, each stick uses a processed star-anise base that is flavour-neutral in itself and carries the nicotine and aroma instead, so nothing in the draw tastes of leaf — though the nicotine is still there. Cooling runs through every variant, which is why the families split by what leads the flavour rather than by whether menthol is present: Arctic Mint and Wild Berry lead with the chill, Zesty Pear and Winter Apple lead with fruit. Every stick carries an Aroma Boost capsule in the filter, clicked mid-session to deepen a note already in the draw.

About Lyo

Lyo is the non-tobacco half of the Ploom stick range, sitting beside the tobacco-based Evo line rather than succeeding it. The rod is built from star anise, processed until it carries no flavour of its own and then charged with nicotine and aroma — a plant base doing the job a tobacco rod does elsewhere. Because that base is neutral, what reaches the draw is the aroma and the cooling, with no leaf character underneath. The heating is Ploom’s: a chamber warms the stick from around its circumference, with no blade and no combustion, so no ash is left behind. Ploom X and Ploom X Advanced use HeatFlow, Ploom AURA the newer Smart HeatFlow, and Lyo is built for that heating profile. A pack holds 20 sticks.

Lineup

Every Lyo variant carries cooling and every one carries an Aroma Boost capsule, so neither can be the dividing line. The families split by what leads the flavour instead:

  • Menthol — cooling leads. Arctic Mint is the coldest of the range, a clear icy peppermint with nothing underneath it, and the capsule sharpens that chill further. Wild Berry sets ripe dark berries over the same cooling base, so the chill frames the fruit while the berries carry the draw.
  • Fruit — the fruit leads. Zesty Pear is the most flavour-intense variant in the range, a juicy pear that the capsule brings fully forward. Winter Apple has the gentlest cooling of the four, sweet orchard apple over a light chill. Both still carry cooling; here it sits underneath rather than in front.

Compatibility

Lyo sticks are made for Ploom AURA, Ploom X Advanced and Ploom X. They do not fit IQOS Originals or IQOS ILUMA, glo, lil SOLID or Pulze — those devices use different stick formats and different heating methods, and nothing transfers between them.

FAQ

Do Lyo sticks contain tobacco or nicotine?

There is no tobacco leaf in a Lyo stick — the rod is a processed star-anise base. Nicotine is present in every variant, and nicotine is addictive. Leaving out the tobacco does not leave out the nicotine, and the two should never be read as the same claim.

How does the Aroma Boost capsule work?

Each stick has a capsule set in the filter. Pinch it between thumb and forefinger until it clicks, and a note that is already in the draw gets stronger — sharper cooling on Arctic Mint, a deeper berry on Wild Berry, fuller fruit on Zesty Pear and Winter Apple. You choose when in the session to press it, so the same stick can run mild first and louder afterwards.

What is the difference between Lyo and Evo?

Both are sticks for the same Ploom devices, sold side by side, and neither one replaces the other. Evo holds real tobacco leaf. Lyo holds none at all and builds the rod from processed star anise instead — but it still carries nicotine, and every Lyo variant has an Aroma Boost capsule, which no Evo stick stocked here does.
