About Ploom

Ploom is the official manufacturer’s heated tobacco platform, and one design decision defines it: the stick is never pierced. Rather than driving a blade into the tobacco or sealing a metal element inside the stick, a HeatFlow chamber surrounds it and warms it with circulating hot air — heated, never burned, so no ash is left. There is no blade to bend or snap, and because nothing enters the stick very little residue builds up, so the chamber wants cleaning only about once a month.

Ploom AURA — the generation stocked here

AURA is the current flagship and the only Ploom generation in this catalogue, in five colourways: Jet Black, Lunar Silver, Navy Blue, Rose Gold and Teal Electric Pop. The body is slim and upright rather than wide and pebble-shaped and both the front panel and the fabric back cover come off — which is what the colour range is built on. Other colours exist in other markets, so these five are not the whole AURA palette.

Inside it runs SMART HeatFlow: an elliptical chamber circulates precisely controlled hot air around the stick and holds that temperature steady for the whole session instead of ramping up and tailing off, which is what the official manufacturer credits for an even taste from first draw to last. There are no buttons — AutoOn starts heating the moment a stick is inserted, with a touch-sensitive area on the front panel as the manual fallback — and no screen either, so two LEDs and vibration report battery level, heating progress, the 20-second warning and the end of the session. Heat-up takes about 25 seconds, or 30 in the strongest mode.

  • Heat Select, four modes — set in the companion app rather than on the device: Standard (5 minutes, about 20 sessions per charge), Strong (3 minutes, about 25), Long (6 minutes, about 19) and Eco (about 27). Mode names vary by market.
  • Charging — over USB-C, about 180 minutes for a full charge; 90 minutes covers roughly 15 sessions in the default mode.
  • Back to back — three sticks in a row before the device wants a short cool-down.

Two earlier generations — Ploom X and Ploom X Advanced — share the platform and the stick format, so a pack bought for one works in the others; neither is stocked here, and AURA’s panels, covers and accessories do not fit their older, wider body.

Compatibility

Two stick ranges are built for the platform, and both are listed here. Evo is the real-tobacco range, sold wherever the device is. Lyo holds no tobacco leaf — the rod is a processed star-anise base — but nicotine is still present, and the range is offered for Ploom devices in selected European markets rather than everywhere the device is sold. Nothing from another platform fits: sticks for IQOS, glo, lil SOLID, Pulze and BONDS each rely on a different heating method, and a Ploom stick will not work in those devices either. Ploom TECH and TECH+ are a separate system with no stick chamber at all, so no Evo or Lyo stick belongs in one. Ploom S is discontinued legacy hardware and is not listed as a supported device; anyone still using one should go by its own manual.

How does an AURA session work?

Insert a stick and heating starts on its own; about 25 seconds later the device is ready. The selected Heat Select mode sets the length — three, five or six minutes — with no puff limit inside that window, and a short vibration marks the last 20 seconds. Session length belongs to the device rather than to the stick, which is why the Evo and Lyo pages quote no duration.
